OBJECTIVE

The Planning and Zoning Commission is a statutory committee comprised of five regular members and three alternate members. Predominantly an advisory committee to the City Council, it hears requests for Planned Developments, Specific Use Permits, amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, and platting requests. The Commission's decision is then forwarded to the City Council for final action.

PUBLIC HEARINGS

GavelThe Planning & Zoning Commission (P&Z) normally meets on the second Tuesday of the month in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 3800 University Blvd. Occasionally, depending on workload, P&Z will meet more than or less than once a month. P&Z holds public hearings to consider rezoning requests, replat requests (involving 4 or more lots) and amendments to the University Park Zoning Ordinance.

All requests to be heard at P&Z must be accompanied by the following:

  • A completed application
  • Two complete sets of plans (24x36) and one complete set of plans (11x17)
  • Electronic version of complete set of plans. Flash drive is acceptable. Content and type of plans will be determined by staff after preliminary project review
  • $300 filing fee

Once the application & submittal has been determined to be in accordance with City requirements, the request will be placed on the next available P&Z agenda and an advertisement of public hearing will be made. After P&Z has made a recommendation the request moves on to City Council where a second public hearing is opened before a final determination is made. Filing deadlines can be found in the P&Z meeting schedule by clicking here. Applications must be received at least 30 days prior to the meeting date.
