Sanitary wastes flow by gravity from each residence, school, and business through a network of pipes referred to as the "sanitary sewer collection system." Like the water distribution system, the collection system is buried below most alley and some street rights-of-way throughout the community. The Infrastructure Maintenance Division staff routinely performs the following services:
Residents are encouraged to report any discharge they observe overflowing from a manhole in the pavement or to request assistance with problems they may be experiencing with sanitary backups at their residence by calling the City's 311 Information Line (24 hrs. a day). Residents can also request assistance by completing an online Service Request form.
Some cell phone users and residents with phone service provided by Voice-Over-Internet programs may have to dial 214-987-5496 to reach the City's 311 service.
