The Engineering Division provides a variety of services relating to the planning, design and construction of the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.  These include:
 

  • Engineering review of all proposed construction within the city limits.
  • Coordination of all outsourced engineering design services.
  • Construction management of all CIP projects constructed in the public right-of-way.
  • Provide engineering support to other departments of the City.

Construction Standards

The City of University Park has its own General Construction Standards.  The City's standards are based on the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction.  The City has revised portions of NCTCOG's Specifications, and the divisions that are revised are included in the City of University Park General Construction Standards green book.  The specifications from the General Construction Standards green book are linked below.  The construction details from the green book are only available through the Engineering Department at 4420 Worcola.

Global Positioning System

The City of University Park has a Global Positioning System (GPS) of 23 GPS monuments throughout the City. These monuments are used for planning, design and construction activities, and control for aerial mapping. Each monument is marked with a 3.25 inch diameter aluminum disc.

A map with all monument locations is linked below. Survey Control Data Sheets for each monument are also linked below. A data sheet and location sketch is included for each GPS monument.
