The Parks Department is charged with maintaining all parks, medians and traffic islands so that they are attractive and useable for University Park residents. Each year the department plants trees and shrubs as well as flowers for seasonal color. Park maintenance includes weekly mowing, trimming of trees, daily trash pickup and irrigation for landscaped areas. Maintenance is performed with modern equipment, properly controlled fertilizer, pest control and irrigation programs.
In addition to maintenance of parklands, the Parks Department also offers services to residents. These services include the trimming and removal of dead or diseased trees in the easement, a city reforestation program, and a mosquito control program.

Due to the popularity of this program, memorial trees will only be planted in Burleson and Caruth Parks. The following items are included when you make a donation to the Memorial Tree Program:
If you have any additional questions about these programs, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 214-987-5488.
The Parks and Recreation Department removes dead, diseased, or hazardous trees on the parkway easements. Although aesthetic pruning of the parkway trees is the homeowner's responsibility, the Department can provide direction for removing low limbs over streets and sidewalks, clearing sight obstructions at intersections, and clearing signal lights or stop signs. To request this service, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department office at 214-987-5488 during office hours - Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
If a tree or large limb falls and blocks the street or sidewalk after hours, please call the Police Department at 214-987-5370. They will dispatch a work crew.
