The City's Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for maintaining and developing eight major parks to serve a wide variety of recreational and leisure needs for residents both today and in the future. The Department is committed to providing and maintaining the parklands in a quality cost-effective manner.

The Holmes Aquatic Center is located within Curtis Park. The complex is open from May 25th through Labor Day. The facility is available for University Park residents and those who reside in the Highland Park Independent School District only. Jump into summer with our Aquatic Programs! We offer swim lessons for children ages 3 and older. We also have a swim team for swimmers ages 5 to 17.
The City offers six double tennis courts for recreational tennis play. All courts have fiberglass practice backboards and are lighted for evening play.
The parks are available for events such as birthday parties and picnics. Park reservations require a security deposit and a land use fee. For events over 200 guests, a formal request must be submitted in writing and approved by the City Council.
